Brian Mehling, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic trauma surgeon specializing in regenerative medicine. Dr. Mehling is also board certified by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and fellow of American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He currently treats patients throughout Hackensack, New Jersey, and West Islip, New York at Mehling Orthopedics. In addition to his clinic work, Dr. Mehling is a respected researcher and philanthropist.
Dr. Mehling’s path to medicine started during his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Biochemistry in 1989 in Ohio state and is currently enrolled at Seton Hall University, pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry with research focused on Stem cell therapy, respectively. Dr. Mehling went on to earn his medical doctorate from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio in 1996.
Upon graduation, Dr. Mehling pursed an orthopedic surgery residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey and a sports medicine fellowship at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2001. As a well-regarded researcher in the medical community, Dr. Mehling has spearheaded groundbreaking stem cell therapy research at his company, BHI Therapeutic Sciences, Inc.
The organization is focused on targeting new stem cell therapy treatments and research. Dr. Mehling and his team have recently been notified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that their Investigational New Drug (IND) application to allow for the initiation of a clinical study of FDA-approved cell therapy (HCP, cord blood) for treatment of acute ischemic stroke may proceed.
As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Mehling is passionate about providing his patients with expert care in a safe and relaxing environment. He has been treating patients to outstanding care for nearly 25 years. He was recently named a 2022 NJ Top Doc.
