Chinenye Nwachuku, M.D. is a board-certified orthopaedic traumatologist and adult reconstruction specialist with extensive expertise in complex fracture care, joint reconstruction, and orthopaedic trauma systems development.
Prior to joining Mehling Orthopedics, Dr. Nwachuku served as Director of Orthopaedic Trauma for the Anderson and Easton campuses of St. Luke’s University Health Network and Chief of Orthopedics at the Easton Campus, while also holding the position of Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Temple University Hospital. He currently has privileges at Hackensack University Medical Center and Secaucus University Hospital (formerly Hudson Regional Hospital).
Dr. Nwachuku earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Stony Brook University before earning his Doctor of Medicine degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training at New York Medical College at St. Vincent’s in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens boroughs of New York City. After his residency training, then pursued fellowship training in Orthopaedic Traumatology at Temple University Hospital.
Recognized for his leadership in trauma care innovation and program development, Dr. Nwachuku played a key role in the development and accreditation of regional trauma systems and has led major initiatives in orthopaedic quality improvement, surgical workflow optimization, and enhanced recovery protocols. He introduced robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty and navigation-assisted total hip arthroplasty at Easton Campus and pioneered same-day joint replacement pathways within the health network.
In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr. Nwachuku is deeply committed to education, mentorship, and global health outreach. He has lectured nationally and internationally on orthopaedic trauma management, fracture care, and health systems optimization, and has taken part in surgical education and humanitarian initiatives throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Nwachuku is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and Consortium of Orthopaedic Academic Traumatologists.
Dr. Nwachuku has authored peer-reviewed publications and presentations focused on fracture healing, orthopaedic biomechanics, perioperative management, and trauma outcomes research. His work has earned multiple honors, including the Temple Office of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Leadership & Social Justice Award and recognition for quality improvement initiatives in trauma care.
His clinical interests include acetabular and pelvic trauma, peri-articular fractures, geriatric fractures, upper extremity trauma, robotic total knee arthroplasty, anterior approach total hip arthroplasty, and adult reconstruction.
